In America
In America
A Modern Immigrant Musical
by Professor Hal Harper
Note: While In America is advertised as a “new” musical, that is only partly true. It is a new musical to the public, but not to the author who began to write it sometime in the 1990’s before first copyrighting it with the Library of Congress in 1997. A CD of the songs (above) with fourteen of the eighteen songs on it was recorded then at Skyline Studios in Oakland, CA before the show was recorded in its entirety at The Record Shop in Nashville, TN. This website is now the totality of the show’s depository and a reference where people can go if they might be interested in listening to an exciting “new” show which boldly addresses some of the most pressing issues of our time in a musical format which hopefully will be pleasing to all, where viewers like you are invited to make a small contribution towards a possible production of In America on a stage or screen near you in the not-too-distant future.
Please note that on the CD version of In America, the songs To Help Others On Their Way and Teacher Panic do not appear as they were yet not completed at the time of the recording while the songs Education and Tax the Rich do not appear as they had not been written yet.
Thanks for listening,
Hal Harper
